<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide inorganic phosphor particles which have a metallic element sufficiently doped in its base material and which provide sufficient luminous efficiency, and to provide a light emitting element using the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The inorganic phosphor particles include, as a base material, at least one selected from group II-XVI compounds and group XII-XVI compounds or a mixed crystal thereof. The inorganic phosphor particles contain, as an element forming a luminescence center, at least any of metallic elements belonging to group VI to group XI in the second transition series and in the third transition series of the periodic table, wherein at least 30% of all the particles are particles having at least ten stacking fault planes at intervals of 5 nm or less.
