摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electro-optical device restraining color breakup caused by to color-sequential drive, and providing satisfactory coloring and gradation characteristics. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This electro-optical device displays a full-color image, using a color sequential drive system of switching time-serially light source colors emitted from three light sources. A liquid crystal driving means divides one field into a plurality of sub-fields on a time axis, and impresses, in each sub-field, an on-voltage or an off-voltage to each pixel constituting a liquid crystal display part, in response to a gradation. A light source control means switches the light source colors to make a switching period of the light source colors shorter than a period for a liquid crystal to constitute the gradation in the pixel, to at least two light source colors out of the three light source colors. This electro-optical device restrains the color breakup caused by the color sequential drive, and provides the satisfactory coloring and gradation characteristics, without darkening brightness.
