PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine executing fuel injection of good efficiency of combustion as a result of fuel injection in an appropriate direction and appropriate quantity without dropping the compression ratio of a combustion chamber. SOLUTION: The engine 1 includes the combustion chamber 4 formed by a cylinder head 3, a cylinder block 50, and a top surface 6a of a piston 6, two intake valves 9 opening and closing two intake ports 7a at a tip of an intake port 7 formed at the cylinder head and communicating to the combustion chamber, and two injectors 20 disposed at a position below the intake port and in the vicinity of the two intake valves and injecting fuel directly into the combustion chamber. A recess 51 continuing to a section at a combustion chamber side of two insertion through-holes 12 of the cylinder head is formed at an inside upper part 50b of the cylinder block and a fuel injection port facing the combustion chamber is formed.
