<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hollow fiber membrane module suppressing damage of hollow fiber membranes due to filtration operation. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The hollow fiber membrane module contains a water collection pipe 13 and a hollow fiber membrane bundle in a cylindrical casing. The water collection pipe 13 has a plurality of water collection holes 15, and the diameter d<SB>2</SB>of an outer face 13a side of the water collection holes 15 is set larger than the diameter d<SB>1</SB>of an inner surface 13b side, wherein a relation expressed by formula (I): d<SB>2</SB>/d<SB>1</SB>≥1.2 is preferably satisfied.
