<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rice cooker for improving the taste of rice by accelerating heating of an upper part. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The rice cooker includes a pot 3 freely detachably housed in the pot housing part 2 of a rice cooker body 1 and heated by pot heating means 5, and an inner lid 8 provided on a lid body 4 which freely openably and closably covers the upper open part of the rice cooker body for freely openably and closably closing the upper open part of the pot. A steam generation part 12 to be heated by auxiliary heating means 9 and a steam guide part 13 for guiding steam generated in the steam generation part into the pot are formed on the inner lid side of the lid body, hydrophilic treatment is applied at least to the steam generation part, and water supply means 16 to the steam generation part is provided on the lid body further. Thus, affinity of water to the steam generation part is improved and the amount of the steam to be generated is increased as a result.
