A magnetic gear arrangement (10) is provided having a first gear member (12) that generates a first magnetic field and a second gear member (16) that generates a second magnetic field. A plurality of interpoles (20) are disposed between the two gear members (12, 16) for coupling the first and second magnetic fields to control a gear ratio between the gear members (12, 16). At least one interpole (20) has wiring (22) associated with it that can be activated to alter the magnetic flux at the interpole (20), so as to vary the coupling between the first and second magnetic fields. The wiring (22) is electrically connected to an electronic filter (28), which modifies the current passing through the wiring (22), so as to modify the influence of the wiring (22) on the magnetic flux at the interpole (20). |
