The controller has a driver circuitry for generating two switching transistor drive signals, where one of the switching transistor drive signals drive an upper gate switching transistor (128) of a buck converter (126) and the other switching transistor drive signal is configured in two modes of operation to drive respectively a lower gate switching transistor and a switching transistor (116) of the buck converter. A control logic enables/disables a portion of the driver circuitry responsive to control signals. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a voltage regulation circuit comprising a buck regulator circuit with an input connected to an output of a boost regulator circuit (2) a method for controlling an operation of a voltage converter.
