PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a nonionic surfactant composition containing a styrenated phenol AO adduct which is simple and curtails a polyalkylene glycol content while maintaining the number of addition moles of an AO. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a nonionic surfactant composition containing a specific styrenated phenol AO adduct expressed by general formula (2), by reacting a specific styrenated phenol-based compound expressed by general formula (1) with an AO in the presence of a catalyst, is characterized in that, prior to the reaction of the compound expressed by general formula (1) with the AO, the reaction system is raised in temperature and reduced in pressure to thereby perform the dehydration of the reaction system, thereafter furthermore the reaction system is introduced with an inert gas to thereby perform the dehydration of the reaction system.
