PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide compact equipment of manufacturing carbon fiber, decreased in clogging of a distributor plate, capable of easily performing maintenance even when the distributor plate is clogged, and integrated with a preheater mechanism by making the equipment of manufacturing carbon fiber a dual structure of inner and outer cylinders, setting a distributor plate at the lower part of the inner cylinder and providing a heater for preheating on the outer cylinder, and to provide a method of producing carbon fiber using the manufacturing equipment. SOLUTION: The carbon fiber manufacturing equipment of a dual structure includes an inner cylinder having a flowing part for reacting a carbon-containing gas with a granular catalyst, and an outer cylinder surrounding the inner cylinder, wherein the carbon fiber manufacturing equipment comprises a carbon-containing gas supply tube for supplying a carbon-containing gas into the outer cylinder, a heating device set in the outer cylinder and for preheating the carbon-containing gas, a distributor plate set on the inner cylinder bottom, and a reaction gas discharging tube for discharging the reaction gas from the inner cylinder.
