The thermal storage container has carrier and dam body with carrier structure (2) formed with carriers (3a,3b,3d). The components are provided in transport condition and are transported with dimensions reduced opposite to storage condition. The dam layer is formed with polyurethane rigid foam coated with steel sheet, and with fiberboard and expanded polystyrene foam or polyisocyanurate material. A container is formed with rubber, particularly ethylene propylene diene monomer or isobutylene isoprene, and with polyolefin, particularly polypropylene, polyethylene or polyvinyl chloride. An independent claim is included for a method for mounting a storage container.
