PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an accurate temperature correction even in a transient state from when the power source of a camera is turned on to when a temperature in the camera body reaches an equilibrium state, and to achieve highly precise focus. SOLUTION: A temperature in the camera body 2 is detected by a first temperature sensor 30. A temperature near the outer cover of the camera body 2 is detected by a second temperature sensor 31. An elapse of time from the turning on of the power source is measured by a timer 55. A correction initial value Comp ini for an amount of defocus is obtained by the defocus amount calculating means 70 based on the temperature in the camera body 2 detected by a first temperature sensor 30 and the temperature near the outer cover of the camera body 2 detected by the second temperature sensor 31. A correction value Comp (t) for the amount of defocus is obtained based on the correction initial value Comp ini and the elapsed time measured by the timer 55, and the amount of defocus of a photographic lens 14 is corrected.
