<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an impeller for a centrifugal compressor capable of inhibiting the deterioration of compressor efficiency. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A notch 8 inclined to a fluid flow out side toward an outer circumference side from an inner circumference side is formed at an outer circumference end of an inducer 4, The Mach number of a velocity component relating to the formation of an impulse wave is reduced, and the formation of the impulse wave is inhibited. The detachment of a blade surface boundary layer from a blade is thereby prevented. The notch 8 is inclined in such a manner that an inclination angle θ(r) is increased according to an increase of the relative Mach number of air to maintain minimum inclination necessary for preventing the detachment of the blade surface boundary layer to inhibit the reduction of blade area as compared to the case that the outer circumference end of the inducer 4 is simply obliquely cut.
