A method for estimating depths for pixels in a single two-dimensional image includes creating local deviation images by applying different sizes of windows to the two-dimensional image, creating equalized images by applying windows of different sizes to the respective local deviation images and equalizing portions of the respective local deviation images that have different intensities. And then, a depth map is created using the equalized deviation images.
