Modified hydroxyaromatic compounds (A) comprising acrylic acid groups and/or hydrocarbon acidic groups (I) or (II), are new. Modified hydroxyaromatic compounds (A) comprising acrylic acid groups and/or hydrocarbon acidic groups of formula (X-(CHR1-N(C 2H 4OR2)-CH 2-CHR1-O-Y1) a) (I) or (X-(CHR1-N(C 2H 4OR2)-CH 2-CHR1-O-Z) a) (II), are new. R1 : H or 1-8C-alkyl; R2 : H, CO-R3b, CO-R3b-CO-O-C 2H 4-N(CH 2-CHR1-O-Y1)-CHR1-X-(CHR1-N(C 2H 4OR2)-CH 2-CHR1-O-Y1) a-1, CO-R3b-CO-O-C 2H 4-N(CH 2-CHR1-O-Z)-CHR1-X-(CHR1-N(C 2H 4OR2)-CH 2-CHR1-O-Z) a-1or CO-R3b-CO-O-C 2H 4-N(CH 2-CHR1-O-H)-CHR1-X-(CHR1-N(C 2H 4OR2)-CH 2-CHR1-OH) a-1; R3b : 1-12C-alkyl, 1-12C-aryl, NH-(2-12C-alkyl)-NH, NH-(2-12C-aryl)-NH, NH-2-12C-alkyl or NH-2-12C-aryl; X : 6-20C-hydroxyaromatic or alkylated-6-20C-hydroxyaromatic; Y1 : CO-CR1=CH 2; Z : CO-CH 2-CO-CH 3or CO-CH 2-CO-O-(1-12C-alkyl); and a : 1-30. Where the hydroxyaromatics of X exists in ortho- and/or para-position to hydroxy groups substituted with the above defined substituents. Independent claims are included for: (1) a mixture comprising either (A) with at least one triazine compounds of formula (XII) or (XIII) in a weight ratio of 100:1 to 1:100, or (A) mixed with at least one oligourethane compounds of formula (Y1-[O-R11-O-CO-NH-R11-NH-CO] 1-10-O-R11-O-CO-NH-R11-NH-CO-O-R11-O-Y1) (XIV) and/or at least one oligoester compound of formula (Y1-[O-R11-O-CO-R11-CO] 1-10-O-R11-O-CO-R11-CO-O-R11-O-Y1) (XV) in a weight ratio of 100:1 to 1:100; (2) a process for the preparation of (A); and (3) use of (A) in lacquer industry or as impregnating resins for prepregs by reacting (A) with aliphatic 3-16C-diisocyanates and/or 8-16C-aromatic diisocyanates.
