ELECTROLYTE MEMBRANE-ELECTRODE ASSEMBLY, AND FUEL CELL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable to secure an excellent power generation performance by aiming at making a solid polymer electrolyte membrane thinner easily and preventing the same from being damaged as much as possible.

SOLUTION: The electrolyte membrane-electrode assembly 12 is provided with a solid polymer electrolyte membrane 18 and an anode-side electrode 20 and a cathode-side electrode 22 pinching the solid polymer electrolyte membrane 18. The anode-side electrode 20 is provided with an electrode catalyst layer 20a contacting with one face of the solid polymer electrolyte membrane 18 and making a periphery of the solid polymer electrolyte membrane 18 exposed in a frame shape and the cathode-side electrode 22 is provided with an electrode catalyst layer 22a contacting with the other face 18b of the solid polymer electrolyte membrane 18 and a gas diffusion layer 22b. The solid polymer electrolyte membrane 18 is provided with a reinforcing sheet member 24 on the frame shaped face projecting from the periphery of the gas diffusion layer 20b.
