<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify maintenance/management of a maintenance part complicated owing to diversification of destinations and firmware versions. <P>SOLUTION: A printer system in tandem connection has a means for comparing the destination and the version of the firmware of the system and the destination and the version of the other system upon start-up, a means for transmitting the firmware of the system to a control unit of the other system, a means of receiving the firmware transmitted from the control unit of the other system, a means for overwrite-copying the received firmware to a firmware storage area of the system, and a means for displaying a screen for selecting which firmware to be used for integration when a difference between the firmware of the system and that of the other system is detected.
