BULB AND LIGHTING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bulb for a high pressure discharge lamp or the like wherein a film formed of a heat-shrinkable resin tube material is formed to cover a neck of a bulb such as a glass outer bulb having a light emitting portion disposed therein and to cover a sealing portion formed over the neck with these portions reinforced even if they have some thin-walled portions or residual distortion, to prevent the outer tube bulb from dropping from a base even if a crack is generated in the portion; and a lighting apparatus using the bulb.

SOLUTION: A bulb for a high pressure discharge lamp L1 or the like includes: a glass outer tube bulb 5 having a light emitting portion 1 disposed therein and having a sealing portion formed at a neck 51; a base 6 joined to the sealing portion and electrically connected to the light emitting portion 1; and a protective film 7 circumferentially attached from the base 6 to an outer surface of the neck 51 of the outer tube bulb 5. The lighting apparatus uses the bulb.
