PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely alleviate unevenness of a read image to be generated by interference by diffracted light when a reading surface contains a diffraction reflecting surface such as a label surface of an optical disk. SOLUTION: When the reading surface of a medium contains the diffraction reflecting surface, a light transmission diffusive member which alleviates interfere by reflection at the diffraction at the diffraction reflecting surface (for example, a surface to which any of crimp processing, surface roughness processing, mat coating processing, application processing of light diffusion resin is performed, or the surface such as a prism sheet surface on which the light diffusion surface is formed) is arranged between a loading surface for loading the medium and the reading surface of the medium, and reading is performed by illuminating through the member.
