<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clean and remove attached matter like crystal of salt attached to the cylinder rod of a hydraulic cylinder serving as a shock absorber in a short time without removing a cylinder device nor disassembling any component, to provide a simple cleaning device without requiring a large apparatus, and to reduce salt concentration after cleaning. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The cleaning device cleans the surface of the cylinder rod in a protective cover 102, the protective cover 102 being attached to the cylinder rod 101 of the cylinder device, and is provided with a split chamber 1 split into two, gripping a cylinder case 100 of the cylinder device, a plurality of nozzle pipes 2 inserted through a space 104 between the cylinder case 100 and protective cover 102, and a mixer 3 feeding a mixed solution of water and a desalination agent to the split chamber 1.
