<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scroll type fluid machine that easily and reliably prevents the flip-flop of a movable scroll while reducing the power loss of a scroll unit. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The movable scroll 22 has an annular step 60 protruded on the radial outer periphery of a back face 26b with the existence of a predetermined first clearance C<SB>1</SB>from a bearing surface 38a of a frame 38.
