<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode and battery which can suppress battery resistance without deteriorating cycle characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: The electrode includes an electrode collector and an electrode active material layer. The electrode has a coating containing a salt expressed by a formula; R1A<SB>n</SB>M<SB>x</SB>on the electrode active material layer.
