PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a broadcasting receiving apparatus and a broadcasting receiving method, capable of easily supplying a program to be viewed by a user and making handling for the user convenience attainable by automatically recording the program adaptively according to the viewing conditions of the user when the user selects the program that he/she wants to view from an electronic program guide. SOLUTION: The broadcasting receiving apparatus includes: registration means (14, 17, 63e) for selecting the program from the electronic program guide prepared on the basis of acquired program information (EPG information) and registering the program; and a control means (63e) for executing recording for the program when the registered program is not being viewed and not recording the program when the registered program is being viewed.
