<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source assembly which reduces the number of components and hardens adhesive resin, in a short time, and to provide a manufacturing method thereof and a laser scanning optical system. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A light source unit includes a first holder 26 for holding a laser diode 20, and a second holder 30 for holding a collimator lens 21 for shaping a beam emitted from the laser diode 20. The first holder 26 is provided with projecting portions 26b, which project from a flat plate portion 26a and have a plane perpendicular to the flat plate portion 26a. The second holder 30 has opposing planes 30a facing the projecting portions 26b. The holders 26 and 30 are jointed by photo-curing columnar resins 35, disposed in spaces between the projecting portions 26b and the opposing planes 30a.
