PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an environmentally-friendly refrigerator by reducing power consumption of the refrigerator. SOLUTION: A freezing compartment set in a freezing temperature zone in a storage compartment defined in a heat insulating housing, includes adjacent storage compartments at both sides in the vertical direction, and a compressor 117 is disposed at an upper side with respect to the freezing compartment, thus heat insulating performance of the freezing compartment can be improved, heat leakage from the freezing compartment by heat exchange through a heat insulating partition can be further reduced, and energy necessary for cooling of the refrigerator can be reduced.
