<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a single operating member to simultaneously perform a switching operation for determining whether to select an object or not and a switching operation of objects when selecting one of the objects. <P>SOLUTION: Faces are detected from a dynamic image and the number of recognized faces is counted. After that, it is determined whether an object switching button has been pressed or not. When the button has been pressed, the count of operations is set at +1 and one of the faces is selected. When the count of operations exceeds the number of recognized faces at this point, it is determined that all the faces have been selected. Further, the count of operations is reset and the selection of faces is canceled to enter a standby state. When the count of operations does not exceed the number of recognized faces, for example, the leftmost face is selected at the first selection.
