PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a pigment-combined hollow particle which is formulated in coating materials, ink, toners, and so on and is well-suited as colorants with high porosity and high concealing property. SOLUTION: This method for producing a pigment-combined hollow particle includes a first polymerization step of producing a first emulsion containing a first composite particle having pigment particles and a polymer by polymerizing a polymerizable unsaturated compound in a water-based dispersion, the dispersion containing in a contact state the pigment particles, an unsaturated compound (I) having polymerizability and an affinity agent having affinity for the pigment particles and for the polymerizable unsaturated compound (I), and a second polymerization step of polymerizing a crosslinkable unsaturated compound and a water-soluble unsaturated compound, in a mixture containing the first emulsion, the crosslinkable unsaturated compound having polymerizability, and the water-soluble unsaturated compound having polymerizability.
