<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical control device in which a transmissive region and a non-transmissive region are made to vary by controlling a voltage applied between electrodes. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The optical control device includes a liquid crystal layer 3, a pair of electrodes 1, 2 disposed so as to interpose the liquid crystal layer 3 therebetween, and a voltage control means 7 to control the voltage applied between the pair of electrodes 1, 2 wherein at least one electrode of the pair of electrodes 1, 2 has an electrode surface 2a three-dimensionally varying so as to vary the distance between electrodes of the pair of electrodes 1, 2, and the transmissive region of the liquid crystal layer 3 is varied by controlling the voltage applied between the pair of electrodes 1, 2 via the voltage control means 7.
