PURPOSE: An LCD display device and a driving method thereof are provided to improve a display quality by controlling a stain due to the polarization and the accumulation of an ion by distributing the directionality and intensity of an electric field vector formed in a liquid crystal layer. CONSTITUTION: An LCD panel(10) displays a gradation by an electric potential difference between a pixel electrode to which a data voltage is applied and a common electrode to which a common voltage is applied. A common voltage adjusting circuit(15) generates a variable common voltage whose level is gradually varied at a regular interval. The variable common voltage is vertically symmetrical based on the direct current common voltage of a specified level. A black gamma reference voltage adjusting circuit(18) generates the variable gamma reference voltage varied based on the gamma reference voltage of the black gradation by adding the variable common voltage to an offset voltage which is set to the gamma reference voltage of a black gradation. The variable gamma reference voltage of the black gradation is varied according to the variable common voltage.
