[Also in Division A1] The feeding drum 10 for a harvesting machine consists of helical flights 11, 12 and of retractable fingers 30 each journalled at 31 to a crank rod 18 and projecting through an aperture 34 in the drum surface and is characterized in that the free end 50 of each rod is, in its retracted position, masked by upstanding flanges 48 flanked on aperture 34. The crank rod 18, locked eccentrically within the drum is supported by crank arms 19, 20 attached to shafts 21, 22 journalled in bearings 24, 25 mounted on spiders 26, 28 arranged in the drum, the shaft 22 being rigidly secured to the main frame (not shown) of the harvesters. The drum 10 rotates about its axis in the direction of arrow 14 while the rod 18 remains stationary, broken line 15 representing a plane parallel to ground. Finger guide 35 rocks in the slotted brackets 36, 38 to adjust itself to the angular position of the fingers. |
