1,099,489. Photographic process. E. I. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO. Oct. 27, 1965 [Oct.28, 1964], No.45542/65. Headings G2C and G2M. A laminate of two transparent or translucent supports having a layer of a photo-polymerizable monomer between them, is imagewise exposed from one side and uniformly exposed from the other, and the supports separated to obtain a positive image on one support and a negative image on the other. The relative intensities of the exposures are such that the degree of adhesion caused by the overall exposure between the surface through which that exposure is made and the adjacent surface of the photo-polymerizable layer is less than that between the other support and the adjacent surface of the photo-polymerizable stratum in the most highly exposed areas. The supports may have matt surfaces. Suitable supports and photo-polymerizable materials are described in Specification 1, 090, 663. In an example a laminate of a transparent polyethylene terphthalate film, a layer of photo-polymerizable monomer (a mixture of the triacrylate of polyethyleneoxy trimethylol propane, 9, 10-phenanthrenequinone, polymethyl methacrylate, methoxy polyethylene glycol hydrogen succinate) and a translucent film, is imagewise exposed to a negative through the translucent film, uniformally exposed through the transparent film, and torn apart; the positive image on the translucent film is treated with aqueous SiO 2 , Zr O Cl 2 and glycerol to form an offset printing master. |
