PURPOSE: An image sensor and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to form a gapless micro lens array by controlling pattering, ion implantation and annealing processes. CONSTITUTION: An insulation layer(120) is formed on a substrate(100). A graded index microlens(130) is separated by pixels and is formed in the insulation layer. The graded index microlens is formed by implanting an ion. The density of the implanted ion becomes lower from the center to the outside of a hemisphere surface of the graded index microlens. A color filter layer(140) is formed on the graded index microlens.
