A Piezo transducer to measure force or shear, or torque comprises three basic units which differ from each other only by the direction of sensitivity of the crystal plates within identical bodies. In Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown) Piezo discs (7) are disposed between washer-like force transmitting members (1, 2) welded to thin tubular inner and outer jackets (3, 4). The discs are insulated from the body on one side by an aluminium oxide washer (11), and remainder of the housing may be filled with epoxy resin. Two or more units may be stacked in mechanical series to provide a multi-force-component transducer Figs. 8 to 10 (not shown). A modified body construction for a torque transducer is illustrated in Figs. 11 and 12 (not shown), with a resiliently mounted-pressureplate.</p> |
