A partition structure is formed by the following method:-Cardboard strips 1 having slits 2, 3 and bent-out portions 4 are arranged parallel to one another on a flat surface 9 spaced apart by division pieces 13, and identical strips 5 are then slipped transversely into engagement with their slits as shown, so that a flat rectangular mat is formed. The mat is distorted by pressure on the comers 16 and 17 to rhomboidal shape, see Fig. 4, the movement being continued until the strips form a bunch, which can then be opened out until the sets of strips are at right-angles to each other, defining compartments. In a modification, when the strip-width is greater than the pitch of the slits or the compartments are to be oblong, the support table is notched to form paiallel oblique surfaces so that the strips 1 can overlap.
