1,177,672. Electro-depositing bright gold and gold alloys. SEL-REX CORP. Jan.31, 1967 No.4599/67. Addition to 851, 973. Heading C7B. Bright gold or bright gold alloys are electrodeposited from an aqueous bath consisting of more than 150 g/1 of a weak stable organic acid partially neutralized with alkali, 1 to 15 g/1 of gold added as gold cyanide and 0 to 50 g/1 of at least one bath-soluble compound of a metal codepositable with gold, the organic acid content being such as to yield a bath pH of 3 to 6. Typically the organic acid is citric acid and part of it is neutralized as the sodium, potassium or ammonium salt. The alloying metals may be nickel, a mixture of zinc and nickel, zinc, indium, or a mixture of cobalt and indium. Depending on the citrate concentration the bath may be used at 35 to 90‹C. |
