A spring contact member for an edge connector comprises a main contact element and an auxiliary contact element secured thereto or integral therewith, the contact pressure of the auxiliary element being substantially independent of the degree of flexure of the main element. As shown, a main contact element formed from a U-shaped metal strip is fixed by its root 1 to a connector body 4 and bent to form contact portions 6, 7, and a central cut-out tongue 11 having a contact portion 12 forms an auxiliary element. The auxiliary element is of smaller cross-section than the main element to increase its resilience, and the main contact portions may engage insulating areas on a mating printed circuit board 5, electrical connection being made by the auxiliary contact element. An alternative contact member (Fig. 4, not shown) comprises a single wire having main and auxiliary elements formed by doubling the wire back on itself.
