The method according to the invention relates to the operation of at least one burner having first fuel and air intake means (11) for FLOX®operation and second fuel and air intake means (25) for auxiliary heating operation. Control means (14) are provided to control the fuel and air intake means (11, 25) such that temperature required for FLOX®operation is achieved by the auxiliary heater in the region directly before the burner (1).
