The device has a speed reduction device (42) placed between an electric motor (41) and a steering shaft for transmitting a torque generated by the motor to the shaft. A steering limit detecting device (44) detects whether a steering value obtained from a steering wheel exceeds a predetermined range. A casing (45) houses the motor and the devices (42, 44). A control unit, which is housed in the motor, swings rotational direction of the motor and stops the motor based on the detection of steering value when the rotation angle of the steering wheel exceeds a preset range of angles. |
