Apparatus and process for separating particles from thermally post-treated process waste gases

In a process to separate particles from process gases that are subjected to post-process thermal treatment in a burner chamber (2). The treated gases are fed via a cooling stage (3) to an agglomeration stage (4) and a washer (5) in which solid particles are separated as residue. - The cooling stage is a quenching unit with an inlet for a washing fluid. The speed of the process gas is reduced in the agglomeration stage. The cross-sectional area of the agglomeration stage is in part as great as that of the burner chamber. The agglomeration unit is seeded with suitable droplet particles, subjected to ultrasonic waves and wetted with a washing liquid film. Also claimed is a commensurate assembly.
