Protection of chip board against fungal attack by addition of shavings Avoiding difficulties encountered with direct treatment with fungicides in the manufacturing stage, and utilizing shavings from the manufacture of poles where the outer ring of the trunk has to be turned off, and the tree trunk has been previously treated with water soluble protective salts using the Boucherie or the pressure-suction process to saturate the wood. Such shavings are added to the shavings of one year old saplings to endow these with adequate protection. Claimed binders are phenol-, urea- and melamine-formaldehyde, casein blood-albumin, epoxy and polyester resins.
|
