<p>In an image display device including a light source which performs partial lighting operation, an image display device capable of improving display quality by reducing luminance non-uniformity, chromaticity non-uniformity, and the like in a display image is provided. By using an illumination light Lout from a light source 10 in which a partial lighting section 4 performs lighting as a unit, image display based on an image signal is performed in a liquid crystal display panel 2. The illumination light Lout from the light source 10 in which the partial lighting section 4 performs lighting as a unit is received with a plurality of illumination light sensors 13 in the light source 10, and photo-emission amount of each of the partial lighting sections 4 is controlled based on that photo-reception data D1. By arrangement of the illumination light sensors 13, the illumination light Lout from one of the partial lighting sections 4 is received with two or more of the illumination light sensors 13. The reliability of a value of the photo-reception data D1 from the illumination light sensor 13 improves. Thereby, even in the case where the photo-reception characteristics are varied among the illumination light sensors 13, the variation in the photo-reception characteristics is suppressed, and the variation in the photo-emission characteristics may also be reduced among the partial lighting sections 3.</p> |
