PURPOSE: An image forming apparatus and a method for controlling an application of the image forming apparatus are provided to check current state information of the image forming apparatus, thereby determining whether to execute a widget program. CONSTITUTION: A storage unit(120) stores an application and execution information of the application. A controller(140) checks current state information of an image forming apparatus. The controller compares the current state information with the execution information. If the application can not be executed, the controller controls a display unit(150) to display the disabled execution of the application.
