PSCA: PROSTATE STEM CELL ANTIGEN

<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a more reliable method and the like for deciding the disease period and prognosis with much information in managing prostate cancer in consideration that the disease period of prostate tumors can not be reliably judged solely by PSA, though the serum PSA level can also be used to judge the disease period. Ž<P>SOLUTION: New cell surface antigens specific to the prostate termed the prostate stem cell antigen (PSCA) are provided. The antigens and the like are over-expressed across all stages of prostate cancer, including high grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia (PIN), androgen-dependent and androgen-independent prostate tumors.
