PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of continuing subsequent processing depending on a screen displayed at that time by displaying a different screen in accordance with a state where a preview image is generated when it is instructed by a user operation to cancel preview display during preview display of image data to be output. SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus (embodied as a digital multifunction machine 1) includes a preview image generating section 16a for generating a preview image of image data to be output in the unit of an output job, and an image display section such as a touch panel 10 for displaying the generated preview image. The image display section displays a generation stop key for stopping generating the preview image during generation of the preview image in such a way that a user can select it, and when the generation stop key is selected by the user operation, a different screen is displayed in accordance with the state of generating the preview image in selecting the generation stop key.
