<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable information processor allowing a user to select a conversion candidate for an input on a legible screen during character inputting, and to provide a character conversion method and a program. <P>SOLUTION: The portable information processor has a displaying part 11 for performing screen display, a state detecting part 13 for detecting an arrangement state of a display screen 11a of the displaying part 11, and a character input processing part 14 for processing a character input.
