PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat absorbing/releasing device structured to have a function of periodically pumping fluid in normal and reverse directions by adopting a conventional heat absorbing/releasing device having one passage, and timely improving a temperature distribution status of the fluid and the heat absorbing/releasing device by periodically changing the direction of a flow of the fluid in normal and reverse directions. SOLUTION: A bidirectional fluid pumping device 123 is serially connected to the passage 101 passing through the heat absorbing/releasing device 100. A direction changing controller 250 is driven by a power source 300, and it controls the bidirectional fluid pumping device 123 to periodically pump the fluid 10 in the normal and reverse directions. Also, temperature measuring devices 11, 11' are provided on both ends of the heat absorbing/releasing device 100. By this, (1) a distribution status of an internal temperature difference is changed to improve heat exchange efficiency during heat absorbing or heat release action of the heat absorbing/releasing device, and (2) impurities and contaminants in the passage can be discharged along with the fluid.
