PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode for resistance spot welding whose service life can be elongated. SOLUTION: There is disclosed an electrode material for resistance welding which abuts against an Sn-Zn based plated steel sheet, and performs energization, so as to spot-weld the sheet, and has a composition essentially consisting of Cu, comprising, by mass, 3 to 30% Ni, and further comprising one or more kinds selected from 0.1 to 1.0% Cr, 0.1 to 1.0% Si and 0.1 to 5.0% alumina, and the balance Cu with inevitable impurities.
