<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing paper exhibiting excellent sizing performance imparted even by neutral papermaking using calcium carbonate as a filler and using no or a slight amount of aluminium sulfate, and having a friction coefficient excellently prevented from being reduced without increasing a liquid absorption amount by a size press. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The printing paper contains an additive for papermaking, comprising a mixture of a copolymer obtained by polymerizing a monomer component at least containing (A) a hydrophobic monomer and (B) a cationic monomer, and having ≥40 mol% rate of quaternarization, and a filler, and an alkyl ketene dimer (AKD)-based sizing agent.
