PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve usability while performing copy control when a program of digital broadcasting which allows recording of one generation (Copy One Generation) is recorded. SOLUTION: The copy control method is a method in a receiving apparatus which receives digital content and a plurality of types of copy control information for controlling copy of the digital content and records the digital content in a recording medium according to the copy control information, and, when first information in the received copy control information shows copy generation information which allows copy of one generation, and, when second information in the received copy control information shows allowing of copy with a limited number of pieces, recording of the digital content is made allowable so that copy is allowed until the limited number of pieces is reached, and, when the second information does not show allowing of copy with the limited number of pieces, only one piece of the digital content is recorded while prohibiting copy of the digital content.
