PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for an organic thin film patterning substrate which hardly leaves residues such as components of a resist material having an ink-repellent property at a range excluding a bank even though the bank with a self ink-repellent property, which is simple in process and is profitable at manufacturing costs, is used. SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method for an organic thin film patterning substrate having banks on a substrate and zones partitioned by the banks and forming an organic thin film on the zones partitioned by the banks, a base-coated layer 12 is arranged on the substrate 11 directly or via the other layer by applying a hydrophilic compound containing composition, a resist layer 13 for a bank is arranged on the base-coated layer 12 by applying a light-sensitive composition including an ink-repellent component, and the bank 14 is formed by exposing and developing the resist layer 13 for a bank.
