<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extract electromagnetic waves condensed into a high energy density state as parallel electromagnetic waves or electromagnetic waves similar thereto as in the high energy density state, and to reduce the energy density upon converging electromagnetic waves to a focus of a parabola when a parabola mirror is used. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An electromagnetic wave irradiation apparatus emits parallel electromagnetic waves with a high energy density by reflecting electromagnetic waves on a convex mirror having a cross-sectional profile comprising an arrangement of parabolas, the electromagnetic waves once focused at the focal points of the parabolas. As the focal points of the parabolas make a line (circle), the energy density at the focal points can be made smaller as compared to a method giving focal points as a spot.
